Darren Way
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Another of Kenny Jackett's signings from Yeovil, Darren joined in a £150,000 deal in the middle of the 2005/6 season after a string of impressive Yeovil midfield performances against the Swans. Unfortunately, Darren has suffered numerous injury setbacks since joining the club, season, although when he has been fit, he has always looked the part. Hopefully he will be able to put the last 18 months behind him and play an active role for the Swans .
Despite his injury setbacks, at least Darren has kept all his hair!
2006/2007
Profile provided by Andrew Thomas
Darren signed for the Swans in a 3 year, £150,000 deal from Yeovil on January 20th 2006. Unfortunately, Darren was injured almost immediately, and only made 3 League and 2 substitute appearances for the club between January and May.
His subsequent operation is also likely to keep him sidelined until late September or early October. The bright side is that when he does regain fitness, that the club will effectively have a new signing on the pitch.
Kenny Jackett hoped that Darren's height would be a key factor in winning aerial duels in midfield.
2005/2006
Started his career at Norwich City but never got the chance to play in the first team for the Canaries. Instead he had to settle for the captaincy of the reserves and an England youth team place, before he was given the chance of first team football when he joined Yeovil in 2000.
Darren is a good all round, hard working midfielder whose consistency is superb, and also possesses an eye for goal. He has always been praised for his 'never say die' attitude, and looks like a player who could prove to be a great addition in midfield for the Swans.
Way was an instant hit with the Yeovil fans, making an inspiring partnership with Lee Johnson in the centre of the midfield. And after seeing his team-mate leave for Hearts, this may have been another reason for Way moving on from Somerset.
Darren has also said the chance of playing Championship football was another reason for the move to Swansea and has signed a 3 and a half year contract with the Swans for a fee of around £150,000 keeping him at the Liberty Stadium until the summer of 2009.
