Pub Guide |
| As a massive sacrifice, and with much complaining, I ventured out to examine what the pubs around our new stadium have to offer.
Each landlord/landlady stated that the pub had a “flexible” opening hours policy, depending on the sports or social event.

![]() A quick disclaimer: This is my own opinion, and mine alone, I am not responsible for the complete accuracy of the information, as the more pubs I visited, and the more pints of Strongbow I drunk, the more difficult it was to write and to read the hand-writing in my note pad. The only order the pubs are listed is the order to which they were visited on the night in question, namely, Friday 1st July 2005. The Dillwyn Arms 472, Llangyfelach Road, Brynhyfryd 01792 652 073 The pub has two separate rooms, a lounge and a bar, the bar was visited. The drinks on draught are Stella Artois, Strongbow, Carling, Guiness and Worthington. There is a pool table and a dart board, the pub has a big screen and Sky TV. Food is not served at the moment, but talking with the landlady, this could be changed in the future, depending on demand. This pub is a very 'locals' pub (although the locals were friendly). The bar area is a little bigger than 'The Garibaldi', (also has a lounge) the bar was, for me a bit smoky. The Coopers Arms 287 Neath Road, Plasmarl 01792 422 714 This is big pub, comparable to 'The Builders Arms' in size, probably a bit larger. The drinks on draught are Guiness, Carlsberg, Fosters, Stella Artois, Strongbow and Buckleys. There is a pool table and a dart board, along with a big screen and Sky TV. Food is available with a menu of around 20 main course dishes (around the £4 mark), also toasted sandwiches, regular sandwiches and jacket potatoes. The pub has an upstairs function room with bar that will be opened on match days. This pub is bright, airy and large enough to contain quite a large number of people (plus the unseen upstairs). Personally, my favourite of the pubs visited. |
The Railway 70-71, Siloh Rd, Landore 01792 411 345 This pub is famous as being decked out completely in Swans memorabilia. From shirts and flags on the ceiling, to team photos and picture of The Vetch on the walls. The pub has one main bar area, with a back room, and beyond that a large function room. On draught are Strongbow, Kronenburg 1664, Budweiser, Fosters, John Smiths, and Guiness. There's a deal for a 4-pint pitcher of Strongbow, Fosters, Kronenburg 1664 or Budweiser for £7.50. There's a pool table, dart board, big screen with Sky TV. Pasties and pies are on offer in a glass-fronted warming oven behind the bar, but no bar meals available. I think that this pub will definitely become the new 'Garibaldi'. The lay-out and Swans memorabilia will make it a real Swans fans pub where away fans should be warned against going into. The Station Inn 18/19 Hamilton Street, Landore 01792 527 755 This a smaller pub than any visited, however it does have a beer garden around the back. Drinks on draught are Guiness, Strongbow, Carling, Fosters, Worthington Dark, Worthington Creamflow, and John Smiths. It boasts a pool table, dart board, big screen and Sky TV. Bar meals are available. A (much needed) visit to the toilet brought a gasp, it was immaculate and spotless The Globe 7 Mysydd Road, Landore, Swansea 01792 301 998 A tardis-like pub, it looks small from the outside, but was almost cavernous on the inside. On draught are Fosters, John Smiths, Allbright, (remember that? – the most popular pint in Wales) Strongbow, Guiness, Double Dragon, Carling, Stella Artois, Banks, Felin Foel Stout, Worthington Creamflow, Carlsberg and Tetley's. Selected guest real ales are also available. The pub boasts a pool table, dart board, pinball machine, big screen and Sky TV. Filled rolls, pasties and jacket potatoes are served. A kitchen is soon to be built and bar meals will then be offered. There is a 200 person function room upstairs and a beer garden. The toilet was a bit smelly, and a horrid green colour. There is a blackboard in there, so messages can be written, like "Dave, got fed up of waiting, moved on to XXX pub". |
