| Hi Ron, I may only have one good arm at the moment but even single handedly I would still be twice as quick as the council in building the new Stadium. I mean how many cups of tea can one drink lol. ATB. Reeco |

Sorry to hear about your arm mate. Does this mean that you will not be able to join us assisting in the building of Morfa stadium ... you with your sand building certificate and all that? 'Cos as far as I am aware not a turf has yet been turned over and it is obvious to me that the C & C is just waiting for 200 + volunteers to turn up to help them out. Does anyone know of what's really happening as things appear very quiet? |

Following James' comments down below, I feel that I ought to reply via this site as his comments are misleading to say the least. This is a reprint of the e-mail I sent to James this morning in reply to his initial query.
Thanks for your comments James, I'm not sure what your knowledge of the Football League/NTL Internet deal is? Two years ago, the two companies teamed up to form FLPTV and created the 9th largest Internet portal in the UK, which now includes 79 clubs (including Premiership, Conference and SPL) with over 10 million regular visitors per month. Their long term strategy is obviously to earn revenue. In the time since I joined the Club some two years ago to set up the site, we have generated over £200,000 income through the site - that is through advertising, site hits/return users ratio and through our commercial partners at the shopping site (all purchases at online shopping, or bets etc at bookies earn revenue). Commercial decisions regarding the site come from FLPTV - Football League executives are involved at all times. It was through these discussions that the decision was made to introduce Swans World. It has been launched at 27 clubs at close of business Wednesday, and initial take-up is almost 20% higher than FLPTV had anticipated. As far as your point about it being priced too high, it comes in less than 50p per week, and for this you are getting exclusive audio interviews with Nick and the players, access to every Nationwide League commentary via the one site, extensive video footage not just of the Swans, but all 72 League clubs and the promise of much more to come. I must add that www.swanseacity.net is not becoming pay-per-view. The main site will continue to operate as it is now - first with the news, plenty of views and features. For example, next week will see the launch of a brand new weekly column provided by www.jackarmy.net, building further bridges with the supporters. I'm sure as well that you've noticed the site upgrade that is currently going on - we are committed to providing a quality service free of charge and that will not change.
I hope that has allayed some of your concerns, |

Match report of Newports game against Steau
The very serious problems over the previous 48 hours that saw our squad decimated by illness meant that only four of our first team squad were able to participate in what would have been a perfect pre- season game for the senior players. Steaua showed their talents in abundance although it was our makeshift side that struck first – after just five minutes. That was due to a combination from two players who are very much part of our senior squad. Mike Fowler’s wickedly floating free kick caught the Steaua defence in more than two minds and Darren Robison stole in at the far post to head home. Eight minutes later, Steaua equalised with Eugen Trica’s curling shot from twelve yards finding the net. Our famous visitors took the lead eighteen minutes into the game with Mihai Panc providing the cross, the move being finished off at the far post by Daniel Oprita’s fine volley. We then had a good spell with Neil Davis bringing a save from ‘keeper Eugen Nae and Mike Fowler’s latest free kick being inches wide of the angle, but Steaua took firm command after the break. Oprita got his second of the game on 49 minutes to make it 3-1and two goals in a minute took the game to its eventual final scoreline. Both were scored by substitutes, Florentin Dumitru and Claudiu Raducanu, Dumitru racing down the left flank and his skill taking him past several players whilst Raducanu chipped Pat Mountain from the edge of the area. In all Steaua fielded eight full Romanian internationals against us, a tremendous compliment but it was a great shame that our squad, so badly hit by illness, could not participate as the benefits to their preparation and experience would have been enormous. Line-Up: P. Mountain, D. Robison (L. Stone), E. Wilmott, J. Dupres, M. Kilgour, D. Bailey, M. Fowler (R. Plant), J. Cant (A. Adams), M. Dickeson (P. Hunt), N. Davis, M. Regan (D. Allen). Subs: M. Currie, D. Ryan. Att: 966. |

| Anyone checked out the new design and layout of the official site yet? I'm very impressed. The distinct lack of red on the page gives it a more professional look and it also is a lot easier on the eye. Any further comments? |

I just wanted to express my concern that the club are making their website available only for those paying a rather substantial fee. There are obviously people reading this posting who know a lot about how to make websites pay, perhaps they could give some hints to the club so we can keep it free. I definitely see this as a problem, because after years of being ignored it seemed like the club was finally listening to the fans. This highly discriminatory fee will only drive a wedge back between the club and fans. If the Evening Post doesn't report these stories (which I very much doubt) how else would we find out those little inside stories about the club such as the one Tony Santore posted. I have no doubt there is also some directive about exclusivity for the interviews and articles so the likelihood is we wont find many of these things anywhere else. I've just sent a club an email saying as such, and recommend others do too. The address is: |

If you read my current "Across the Pond" essay on this website, you'll remember a reference to the plight of Bradford.
The whole sad story of red ink bingeing can be read at the website below.
This is not for the faint of heart, but demonstrates the true state of affairs in British football today. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/teams/b/bradford_city/1991829.stm
