Bastards! They are sh*fting us! Booting Steve Jones shows the lack of concern the powers that be at the Vetch has for the club and its fans!!
For pete's sake, Hollins, McClure and Lewis leave us alone! Don't shaft us anymore before selling us please! Instead make sure it's worth buying! |

If as rumour has it that Lewis has been told to cut costs at the football club, why is it that the players are the ones to be thinned out first. We can all see that the administration and back room staff is top heavy draining Ninth Floors limited financial resources. The Chairman of Ninth Floor plc wants to assert his authority and instruct McLure to flush out the higher salaried staff at the club, go for broke,(if you aren't already) pay Lewis off and pay Hollins off, get a new manager in quickly - perhaps he might offer Steve Jones a new contract!! |

I'd just like to say thank you to Steve Jones for being such a great servant to the club. Cheltenham are going to be a very lucky club to get the services of one of the best right backs we've had at Swansea for many years. We, the supporters, understand and know how good a player you are and will always be welcome in Swansea. John Hollins is a different matter entirely. Wonder if the crowd will break 2,000 on Tuesday? I doubt it. We're shedding experience and looking to field our youth team in Division 3. Does anyone recall what happened in division one all those years ago and what happened after we didn't have any experienced players in the first team? Anyone got deja vu, as well as me? |

I am amazed to read that the club have seen fit to release Steve at the end of the season, this is a player who has suffered some of the most horrendous injuries during his time at the club and has always bounced back. We all thought that maybe his career was over after the playoff injury but to his credit he has returned to prove what a good lower leagues player he is. The club have been approached by prospective buyers and told them to go away, yet they do exactly the same as with Jules last year....and let the go for sweet FA. I expect more casualties sooner rather than later, and I also understand that the club may need to cut its wage bill, well here is somewhere I could help.....sack Hollins and Mike Lewis and that should tae a massive ammount off the wage bill.
Come on, we are not thick Welshies, we are football fans who love their club, and the last thing that we want is to say goodbye to our best players. We have a massive squad that undoubtedly needs trimming, I for one agreed with the departure of Martin Thomas, but we have too many fringe players who we need to sift out. Todd has done well, and deserves to be kept but players like, Jason Jones, Lee De-Vulgt, Damien Lacey et al....well they must go to save the big names at the club. Our wage bill is large because we have not gone out and bought, instead we have loaned players ie Fabiano and Verschave are obviously not on £150 per week having come from PSG. Gio is a proven goalscorer all over the world therefore there is a financial price to pay, the same can be said of Walter. Lets face it Hollins gambled with our clubs future this year and failed.....this is a legacy that could be with us for some time, but what we as fans need now is sensble speak from the club not the usual "goals win games" nonsense that we have put up for the last few years. Hollins said last week that 2 out of 3 isn't bad....I would like to know how he arrived at this conclusion. The first season we failed to get promoted by losing at Scunthorpe, we then got promoted as champs then relegated as chumps...IMO this is 1 out of 3 and that is bad. Farewell to Steve Jones and I wish him all the best, but I doubt there will be a shortage of clubs interested. |

From: Jez - London - Friday, April 27 Re: Players - let's face it... |
|
Steve Jones has already gone - this morning on a free !
Gio will not be hanging about for 3rd division football depend on it
Price and Roberts both want to go
Boyd is probably off (and what has he done anyway ?)
Verschave and Fabiano will be going back to PSG
Are people finally waking up to what a mess the club is in ? Are the same people going to castigate me and certain others as "doom and gloom" merchants and claim that we will "bounce back up" ? We have been taken for a ride and things are not going to get any better until they get considerably worse. McClure will not go until he gets a buyer (and I think you can forget all this rubbish about rich Arabs) - he will hold out until the bitter end (i.e. until the receivers come in and sell to the highest bidder - do I hear £1 - ). While he is here we will still be stuck with the sharpest commercial brain in South West Wales in Mike Lewis and our celebrated tactically unquestionable manager Mr Hollins !? Am I angry ? Are you ? |

From: Betty Jones - Swansea - Friday, April 27 Re: Points to Prove |
| It is reported in the Evening Post that Gio, Walter, Stuart Roberts, Steve Jones, Jason Price and Verschave have only 3 matches left to prove that they are good enough to follow John Hollins and his merry band down into the 3rd division next season. (And no doubt enjoy the benifits of his leadership for the next stage of their careers!) Does the Evening Post and J.H. really see it this way, Just who is kidding who?. |

From: Philip - Brynmill - Friday, April 27 Re: Assessments |

Why is it necessary to play off the last few games of this dreadful season as practice for our youngsters? ( E. Post Thursday) We are and have been paying to watch professional football, (not much value so far) surely not to watch youth training/experience games with very little chance of winning. Surely if the season had been well managed our young players would have been sorted out well before now and the few really good ones would be either playing, on the bench, or waiting in the wings. The no hopers would be long gone and their wages saved. As Andrew Owen pointed out what's needed are battle hardend pro's.
Julien Alsop, Martin Thomas and Tony Bird were squandered but we still have a large squad of untried, untested young playes waiting to be assessed (having been paid in some cases for years rather than months) this seems ludicrous to me. Young Mumford was a breath of fresh air and a must to keep, we haven't seen him before, why not? If our manager does not know inside out the potential of ALL the players in his squad at this stage I don't see why I should be paying out hard earned cash to help him find out. I agree with Chris exeter and also have a lot of respect for Frank Burrows. |
