SWANSEA CITY powered to a comfortable victory over Kilmarnock in their final Liberty Stadium friendly before the start of the season.

And it was winger Mark Gower who starred after grabbing a hat-trick against the SPL side to hand new boss Paulo Sousa a second home win of the pre-season.

Gower, who failed to hit the target at all last year, has now grabbed four goals this summer and it was his performance along with that of fellow wideman Nathan Dyer that impressed in front of a meager 5,000 crowd.

The ex-Southend and Spurs man opened from the spot 11 minutes from the break after Simon Ford tripped Dyer when through on goal.

And he followed that up when he converted Dyer's cross four minutes after the restart following a clever pass from new boy Stephen Dobbie.

Gower made it three with a superb curling effort on 64 minutes before Jim Jeffries' side grabbed a consolation on 77 minutes when Conor Sammon was left unmarked to head home Mehdi Taouil's corner at the near post.

But sub Chad Bond notched Swansea's fourth eight minutes from time when he powerfully headed home from an Andrea Olrandi cross leaving the hosts to start their Championship campaign against Leicester next week on a winning note.
